Hell of a good place to ride to escape the usual Colorado razzamattaz

Durango Resort Vista / Durango Mountain
Freeriders have a wonderful mountain to play on. A weeks visit won’t be wasted here with a good selection of runs to choose from with some very fast descents through trees and some fine powder stashes to seek out. The runs located under and around the Grizzly chair lift are cool and will offer the advanced rider a good time. The Bull Run is especially good but be warned, the lower section is not for the faint hearted. For some less daunting descents try the runs off the Hermosa Quad. Snowcat boarding is a good option to find some great untracked lines.
Freestylers have plenty to do here with a choice of terrain parks and halfpipes. Paradise Terrain Park has a 450ft half-pipe, hits, rails & drops. Pitchfork Terrain Park features hips, rails, table tops, gaps, big air hit.
The piste here are ok and you have a series of cool cruising trails but in truth this place is more of a freerider’s resort. Still, runs like the Path of Peace is a good intermediate cruising trail.
Beginners can almost ride from the top to the bottom on a nice cluster of easy green trails reached off the Hermosda lift.
