Alpine Meadows has some of North Tahoe’s best terrain and should be an essential stop when ever you visit Tahoe. This is a no frills resort with only a car park, a restaurant and lots of high speed lifts, but what more do you need. Terrain is a big thing here and they have it big time, and what’s even better, is they run an open boundary policy which is hard to find in North America.
Alpine Meadows has all sorts of natural terrain that lends itself to the specific needs of snowboarders. There is a wide variety of trails from beginner to expert, lots of tree runs, great off-piste with amazing views of Lake Tahoe, if you care to stand and stare. On a week-day, you will hardly ever stand in line for the lifts, giving maximum riding time and ample reason to rest and chill at one of the mountain restaurants. Combine all this with a very snowboard-friendly and generally mellow attitude, and you’ve got simply a magic place for all snowboarders.
Dont forget that Alpine is combined with Squaw Valley - so you can choose between the 2 resorts. Each resort is serviced by a free shuttle that takes only 5-10 minutes between them. Life tickets cover both resorts too, so no additional charge required.
