The Nax Region may sometimes get overshadowed by its bigger Valais siblings but trust us it's a little hidden gem.

Free riders and split boarders in the know are heading to Nax Region where they can get some deep powder turns by riding from Mont Noble towards La Vachette.
Below the la combe chairlift lies endless powder opportunities and the north face of Mont Noble also offer excellent freeriding opportunities for those wanting an area to lap. As always we recommend getting a local guide who knows the area. For split boarding you can do a tour from Mont-Noble to Pas de Lovégno, passing through the Réchy valley which takes approximately 3 hours of ski touring: 2 hours of uphill and 1 hour downhill.
There are also various huts where you can arrange a stop over if you fancy splitboarding. Check out the mont noble hut for overnight stays on the mountain.
As always if you don't know the area it is worth getting a guide. The fact that Nax Region is now popping up in snowboard movie such as Picture Organic Clothing's Shelter movie will only enhance its reputation as an excellent freeride area.
Nax Region has some great pistes that are accessed by a combination of chairlifts and t-bars.
Upon arrival at the resort take the La Dzorniva chair which starts at 1507 metres and arrives at 1913 metres. If you fancy a quick warm up run you can ride down either side of the chair on a piste that mixes between red and blue and varies from nice and wide to a few slightly narrow areas. It's nothing too challenging though and would suit a good intermediate rider best.
Once you have warmed up and fancy extending your descent. Take the La Dzorniva chairlift and head slightly down the piste to the right side and jump straight on the La Vachette chair.
This 4 man chair whisk you upto 2290m and sits directly under the free ride zone. From here your options really open up with at least three routes back to the base you can mix up a little of everything red, blue and a little black.
Once you have this area licked take the la vachette chair and ride down to the les Planards button lift and take this to the top.Once at the top of the button lift ride down the piste to the right where you can take the chairlift La Combe to the top of the resort just below the Mont-Noble peak which sits at 2672m.
From here you have a couple of options on the left is a red piste and to the right is mainly blue. This is a great piste for doing some fast laps in the sun. Once you have burnt yourself out here you can take a top to bottom descent taking in a variety of terrain or if you are a freeriders there is plenty of terrain up here to explore as well.
In summary Nax Region is a great place for a few quieter days and if you hit it on a powder day this place is immense. It wont suit everyone especially those looking to charge down miles and miles of pistes however if you fancy some time away from the busier resort of the region then you should head here. It's also included on the magic pass that covers a number of resorts in the area.
Beginners have a few options of where to head in Nax Region the ‘snow garden’ offers beginner lessons for those taking their first steps on snow. Its gentle slope with flat area to stop on makes it an ideal place to first strap in
The snowgarden located in the village of Nax, Espace Mont-Noble can be found a little lower down the road before your reach the true resort base. This caters for the younger riders age 2-4 mainly.
For those ready to take their steps onto the main mountain. You can get the chairlift La Dzorniva and at the top head left where you will find a poma accessed baby slope. This is serviced by a tbar.
Although to be honest we would recommend getting a few lessons under your belt before heading to Nax Region as you will have to take the main chair to reach this area and they are not as modern as some of the other resorts.
