Sierra Nevada

It seems amazing, wrong even, that you can quite easily snowboard in the morning in deep powder snow, then pop down to the beach just over an hour away for a huge seafood meal, a swim in the Mediterranean sea and a relax on a sun soaked coast, but that's exactly what you can do from here in this most southern resort of Sierra Nevada, located a short distance form the town of Granada. It's possible from the high point of Veleta to see the Atlas Mountains of Morocco across the Mediterranean.

Sierra Nevada is an OK place to ride and is particularly well suited to beginners and hard boot carvers, as well as offering some cool off-piste freeriding in powder bowls. The purpose built resort is well located for the slopes. These are first accessed by the main gondola which deposits you in Borreguilles, directly onto fantastic beginner's piste.

Go up higher and you will be on slopes whose angles are great for free carving - just that perfect angle to really lay 'em out in perfect control. Night-riding is done on the Rio slope, a 2 mile run that provides one of the best lit night trails anywhere. However, there are no set days or times for night-riding, you will need to check at the lift ticket office on a daily basis to get details.
