Phoenix Park

Dominating a pleasant valley in the Balwang Mountains, three and a half hours East of Seoul, Pheonix Park is one of Korea's more popular resorts. Several big high rise hotels provide a constant supply of people for the numerous nightclubs and for the mountains not so plentiful lifts. There are eight and if you want to ride here on the weekend then you'd better be prepared to spend a lot of time in their enormous queues.

A fast gondola hauls people to the summit, deceptively named Mont Blanc and from here one can survey the resorts 8 or 9 pistes. These are cut through trees and all but the Champion course yield very little to challenge even a novice snowboarder. However what this place lacks in freeriding terrain it makes up for with superb freestyle facilities and a pumping nightlife.
