Stryn is located at the base of the Jostedalsbreen glacier and is Norway's most famous summer resort (in fact the only one of note). The glacier gets so much snow during the winter (five metres plus), that the lifts are usually totally buried and as they couldn't run them even if they wanted to.
Although this is a popular snowboarders hangout, it should be pointed out that Stryn is also very popular with skiers, resulting in fairly long lift queues. What's more, a number of ski teams spend time on the slopes doing training sessions, swelling the numbers further. Still, leaving the two plankers aside, what you have is a small glacier mountain offering some interesting and steep riding on slopes where snow holds its condition all day.
A lot of Norwegians simply come up to strip off and sunbathe (an often enjoyable sight). However, for those wanting to snowboard the 10 kilometres of terrain are serviced by just two lifts; a double chair and a drag lift. A lot of snowboard camps are held here each year with lots of pros on the teaching staff.
