Hemsedal has the claim of being the most photographed resort by the snowboarding press, and is no stranger to snowboarding having hosted major events for years including the Artic Challenge in 2001, and as a result has been attracting riders of all ages for years, especially freestylers. Its height, location and use of snow cannons all help to ensure a good snow record and a long season. The slopes lie about 3 kilometres from the main town and are reached by a free shuttle bus. The terrain will appeal to all standards, with 40 kilometres of well prepared piste for freeriders to carve up as well as being ideal for beginners. Freestylers will get to enjoy one of the best parks in Europe, and theres a load of good accesible back country routes. The runs are serviced by a good lift system which, unlike some neighbouring resorts, is not all drag lifts. Theres night riding for most of the season during the week until 9pm.
