THE OPEN FACES FREERIDE SERIES IS BACK IN VORARLBERG
THE OPEN FACES FREERIDE SERIES IS BACK IN VORARLBERG AT THE 4* FWT QUALIFIER SILVRETTA/MONTAFON, THE FIRST PRELIMINARY DECISIONS FOR QUALIFICATION FOR THE CHALLENGER SERIES WILL BE MADE.
At the legendary 4* contest, preliminary decisions are already being made about who will ultimately qualify for the "Challenger competitions" and thus the potential promotion to the Freeride World Tour 2025. With its numerous freeride options, Silvretta Montafon is the perfect venue and is once again attracting the best international qualifier riders to Vorarlberg this year. The stage is set for the first big showdown of the season.
As in previous years, the stop in the Silvretta/Montafon between 23 - 27.02.2024 will play an enormously important role. If you want to qualify for the Challenger Series as an up-and coming rider, you have to achieve the maximum possible points in the 4* qualifiers. Only a few points decide success or defeat here and can therefore be the springboard for participation in the "premier class", the Freeride World Tour. In recent years, the stop in Vorarlberg has developed into a freeride classic and is now known far beyond the national borders. Accordingly, former World Tour riders as well as potential talents from a wide range of nations will be gathering here, promising a true freeride spectacle.
International freeriders go on the hunt for points
A whopping 2500 points await the participants and, as the cherry on top, a handsome prize for winning the day. These prospects will probably "push" the riders to go to their limits or beyond in order to prevail against their competitors and convince the judges. With a steepness of up to 60°, the contest face on the "Kleine Heimspitze" offers the perfect terrain for this and definitely demands a smart line choice, clean technique and a good dose of courage from the riders. Whether the Heimspitze or one of the numerous alternatives in the Silvretta / Montafon will be used this year depends on the snowfall.
Livestreaming and public area
Regardless of where the final contest takes place, every detail of the runs can be seen on a large LED screen. So if you want to experience the thrill and drama live on site, grab a deckchair and enjoy the action in the event area with the finest DJ sound. For all those who can't be there, the entire contest will be broadcast via drone footage and live commentary on www.open-faces.com.
The freeride world is eagerly watching to see who will manage to top up their points account in order to finally qualify for the 4 remaining Challenger events. The stage is set - the points hunt can begin.
