Crystal Ski Holidays adds Serfaus in the Austrian
Where next on your family ski holiday?
Crystal Ski Holidays is delighted to add Serfaus in the Austrian Tirol to the 2018-19 programme, bookable from today, Serfaus, interconnected with the ski areas of Fiss and Ladis, is situated on the 'other side' of the mountains of Ischgl and Samnaun.
Despite the respectable size of the ski area, its high altitude (resort is at 1600m and the peaks at over 2800m) as well as the short transfer time from Innsbruck airport, Serfaus is not well known in the UK.
Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis scores itself as Austria's largest family ski area. From huge, dedicated children's areas, to family-friendly restaurants and an array of off-slope activities, it also has an almost traffic-free village where children can play in the streets.
Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is unique in Austria - it has an underground railway, the 'Dorfbahn', which floats on air, has no track, no platforms and no vibration. It has four stops from the village car park to the gondola with stops for hotel guests and its tired children. Day visitors are directed to a massive parking area on the edge of the village to take the subway to the gondola, the resort has no through-traffic.

It's not all about the families though. Serfaus shares its 198km of piste, spread over a series of sunny, open bowls, with the two neighbouring towns, Fiss and Ladis. Intermediates will love the 123km of reds and the range of fun slopes. Meanwhile, beginners can build skills on the wide green and blue runs, and experts have some excellent black runs and off-piste to explore.
Crystal's Austrian general manager Lindsey Cairns commented "Don't miss the giant, eight-person swing or the 'Fisser Flieger' in the village of Fiss, a four-person hang glider that flies down a wire at 80km/h. There's also a zipline that lets you soar 85m above the resort.

If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, visit the Z1 viewing platform and the Crystal Cube in Fiss, a huge construction made from mirrored glass with a restaurant inside, or relax in dedicated areas on the slopes, each with hammocks, lounge chairs and incredible views".
A week's stay at the 3* Hotel Komperdell costs from £639 per person (two sharing) including half board, flights from London Gatwick to Innsbruck departing and transfers.
