British Snowboard athletes in action this weekend
This weekend the GB Park and Pipe team are in Quebec City for the Big Air and Slopestyle World Cup, also known as the Snowjamboree World Cup.
Both the skiers and snowboarders are competing in both disciplines, with qualification for the Ski Slopestyle and Snowboard Big Air taking place yesterday
Fresh from his historic Big Air victory at the Aspen X Games, James ‘Woodsy’ Woods shone again, qualifying first in his heat. With only four from each heat making it through to finals, Isabel Atkin missed out by just one place as she finished 5th in her heat. Just behind her was Katie Summerhayes in 9th. Tyler Harding finished 10th and Cal Sandieson placed 13th. Big Air qualification starts today.
The Snowboard Big Air event completes the final leg of the three stage Big Air Super Series, following previous stages in Milan and Moenchengladbach earlier this season. Unfortunately it was a tough day in qualification for the GB Park and Pipe snowboarders on a gnarly jump. With the top six qualifying in each heat for the women, Katie Ormerod crashed in her attempt to land a cab 9, eventually finishing in 11th place. Behind her was Aimee Fuller in 14th. For the men, Rowan Coultas finished in 11th place, missing out on finals, as did Matt McCormick despite two clean back dub tens. Billy Morgan and Jamie Nicholls DNS the second jump. Snowboard Slopestyle qualification is today.
