Austrian Resorts Make Improvements for 2012-13!
Gastein, Obertauern, and Pongau have all made big improvements for the 201213 winter season.
The resort of Gastein has invested €10million+ in snowmaking to date and new machines on the link from the Schlossalm to Angertal now ensures good snow across the Sportgastein ski circuit. By 2013/14 the entire eastern slope of the Stubnerkogel will alsobenefit from 100% snowmaking coverage.
Bad Gastein
In Obertauern they will be launching the Hochalmbahn high-speed detachable 6-seater chairlift which will have all-weather bubble covers and heated seats). The Grünwaldkopfbahn, an 8-seater chair/10-passenger cabin combo, replaces the old lift. In addition the Obertauern area lift pass has been extended and now includes 50 km of slopes and 10 cable cars. This now includes the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area at Mauterndorf. Pongau (Werfenweng) also sees the launch of an 8-passenger cabin lift (part of the Travel Charme Bergresort development) connecting Werfenweng town centre with the ski area. The lift is enhanced by a piste back to the village, a designated sledging hill and snowmaking. More information can be found at www.werfenweng.eu
