Treble Cone 2012 / Treblecone
Freeriders will like it here especially when there has been some fresh snow. A particular good area to drop into is Powder Bowl. A wide open slope leading into the lower gullies for some big powder turns and super floating glides. For the more adventurous the off-piste in the Matukituki Basin is the place to check out.
Freestylers should head to the top and from the summit, drop into the Saddle Basin alongside the Saddle double chair, to take advantage of loads of natural hits and halfpipes to gain maximum air time. The Gun Barrel, which is also reached from the summit, is another legendary, long natural halfpipe where banked slalom events are regularly held. The terrain park is loaded with and if you're still not satisfied and in need of an adrenaline rush, there are loads of big drops offs and rocks of all sizes dotted all over the mountain.
Carvers need not feel left out as Treble Cone has done lots of work developing a series of well groomed runs down the face of the mountain which are ideal for laying down some big wide arcs.
Beginners may note that although Treble Cone is not known as a beginners mountain don't be put off, as there is still enough to try out without killing yourself on the first day. Its skiers who can't handle it here, not fast learning boarders.
