New for 2012 Cardrona is introducing a new ticketing system that utilizes smart card technology. RFID cards will enable skiers’ direct access to the lifts, saving precious time! RFID technology is one of the most effective and sustainable ski area ticketing systems available on the planet. No more paper tickets. Your smart myCARDrona pass is reusable; hold on to it for next year or pop it in one of the boxes on the mountain and we can reuse it for another customer! 2011 Season Cardrona redeveloped the learner’s area. This redevelopment increased the size AND quality of the novice terrain on offer. A new state of the art “Sunkid” surface conveyor lift was installed to improve accessibility and ease of learning for beginners.

  While Cardrona itself does not offer heliboarding, there are numerous operations in Wanaka, Queenstown and the surrounding areas. They have exclusive access to huge amounts of terrain with prices that are too good to miss out on. Expect to pay around $600-700 for 4 -5 drops. If you're there for the season, look out for "locals day" deals.

• Flying: Fly to Christchurch 3 1/2 hours away. Air New Zealand to Wanaka from Christchurch, 1 lunch time flight per day. Queenstown is 60 minutes from Cardrona. Wanaka is 35 minutes from Cardrona.
