The Rockwood Hotel is the epicentre for all things off-snow at Aomori Spring. It’s a well-rounded facility with wonderful staff, super-filling, all-you-can-eat buffet breakfasts and another round of tasty buffet for dinner. They have a small lounge bar and a beautiful onsen to soak those bones after a long day of riding.
The buck stops there however, as the closest town is 20mins drive away. But, as with lots of Aomori’s lesser-developed characteristics, there are BIG plans for this base area, including a series of condos, a budget capsule-like hotel, a full sports facility and even a small village down the line.
With the substantial buffet breakfasts and dinners on offer in the hotel, your stomach may well manage through the day on just a few snacks. But if hunger gets the better of you, check out the ramen house at the bottom of the quad chair next to the park. There’s nothing like a good bowl of hot ramen to fill the gap.
