Sansicario is a low-level and modern purpose-built resort that forms part of the vast Vialattea area which includes the neighbouring Italian resorts of Sauze D’Oux, Sestriere, Cesana, Claviere and the popular French resort of Montgenevre. All these resorts link fairly well on the slopes by lifts and via the pistes, they also share a joint lift pass should you want to venture farther a field rather than staying on the local slopes.
Sansicario was one of the resorts used in the Winter Olympics in 2006 . In general, what you have here is a popular resort which attracts a lot of Italians to its slopes throughout the winter season. They come for the diverse terrain, the sunny slopes, good choice of challenging runs (including some excellent off-piste riding, much of which is in and out of trees and across big powder bowl)s. Sansicario boast some 40 marked trails which are mainly rated as red runs for intermediate riders. However, the Vialattea has hundreds of runs for all levels, so noone is going to feel left out. You can ride with some ease from the top station all the way down to the resort base, although total novices won’t find it an easy thing to do as the top runs are mainly all intermediate slopes with a couple of black trails here and there.
