Folgarida is a fairly ordinary purpose-built resort that links closely with the more famous resort of Madonna di Campiglio and the less famous resort of Marilleva. Collectively the area boasts 120 kilometres of lift-linked piste, however on its own, Folgarida accounts for only a small portion of the total area.
Unlike many purpose-built resorts in France and Italy, this place is not an ugly sham crammed with mountain tower blocks. What you get here is a well-balanced alpine-style retreat nestled between trees and great scenery. This is also a place that attracts riders who like things easy and without the hustle and bustle of the more stuck-up neighbour, Madonna di Campiglio. Folgarida doesn’t have a great choice of runs - with only a few north-facing easy slopes and almost nothing for expert riders, apart from one black trail that runs down from the main gondola at the mid-section.
What this resort does have is a very good, modern lift system that is able to whisk thousands of visitors up to its slopes and onto the neighbouring areas, all of which share a joint lift pass. This resort on its own would only take two days of your time, but as the place links nicely with its neighbours, a two week stay would be well worth it.
