Freeriders will find that this is a fairly ordinary place to ride with nothing much to entice you back. However, up on the Jafferau area, (only five minutes by shuttle bus from Bardonecchia), you will find a nice big snow bowl and some cool backcountry spots along with some fast steeps.
Freestylers: first impressions of the terrain and the opportunities for getting air will not be good. There is a halfpipe and park at the base for competitions, but traditionally it's not very well maintained outside the event dates.
It's best to seek out natural hits for getting air.
Carvers are the ones who should be most at home here, especially if you are only looking for gentle descents on which to lay out some easy lines. Most of the slopes are well-pisted and make for good carving, some of which can be done at speed.
Beginners have a resort that is well suited to their needs. At Campo Smith and Melezet there are two large nursery areas but be warned, they get very busy with novice skiers.
Note also that this area operates a lot of old draglifts.
