If you continue along the road for another 30mins after Shemshak you will reach Dizin. At an altitude of 12,900 feet this is the highest snow resort in Iran and attracts the most amount of snow. Iran gets powder snow by the bucket loads, it is not uncommon for 50cm to land overnight during a dump in Shemshak, and more in Dizin. However, because of the huge amount of snow there are a lot of avalanches, and Iranians just let them happen naturally. There is no dynamite bombing, therefore theres a risk that the road to Dizin might be blocked with snow. However, in the past three years the road has been open most of the time. To be on the safe side check at Shamshak before driving along.
Dizin is a completely different resort to Shemshak. The views are amazing, you can see unending mountain ranges and there is a clear view of the highest mountain in Iran, the semi-active volcano, Mount Damavand. Also, it is possible in this larger resort to see all the nine runs. Like Shemshak, the runs are wide, long and interconnecting and there are no trees. However, the slopes are not as steep attracting beginners through to advanced riders. The price for ski pass and hired equipment is the same as in Shemshak. It is also easy to find accommodation here.
