Montgenevre forms the only French part of a circuit known as the Milky Way: a collection of resorts that extends along a number of valley floors and criss-crosses over into Italy. Montgenevre is basically at the opposite end to its more famous relation, the Italian resort of Sauze d 'Oulx. Collectively, the circuit offers over 250 miles of rideable terrain on slopes that have a good, reliable snow record, thanks to the average height of each area.
Montgenevre's own 60km of marked-out trails are an interesting mixture of mainly intermediate trails and some poor advanced terrain, rising from the village (which is at an altitude of 1850m). Although this is a popular tourist resort, it is not as tainted with package tours like some other resorts in the region.
Easy access to the slopes is made possible by a number of base lifts that will take you up to the main slopes of the Les Anges and Le Querelay areas, or in the opposite direction to Le Chalvet.
