Duck Mountain

If you travel east from Saskatoon and drive along highway 16 towards Yorkton and then head north via Kamsack, you will eventually come to the Duck Mountain Provincial Park where tucked away in Little Boggy Creek Valley is the small but cool ski resort of Duck Mountain. As one of Saskatchewain’s biggest resorts, this place is still no match for the resorts found in the neighbouring western provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. However, by no means is this place boring or not worth a visit because for beginners living close by and on a low budget, Duck Mountain is a fine place to try out. Intermediates will also find that this place will keep them amused for a couple of days, though, expert riders may well tire of the place after a day. There is only half a dozen black trails and none of which are that long. The 20 well marked trails are serviced by just three drag lifts. All with all the slopes link up easily and base out at the Day lodge which boasts a cafe-bar and snowboard rental centre. The resort operates a number of lift pass options and unlike Alberta’s resorts, lift rates here are very affordable with an adult day pass costing just C$16 or a child’s pass at C$13. Oldies can shred the slopes for C$10 an afternoon, provided their hearts can take it.
