Great freeriding resort
8/10
Freeriders will literally be able to pick a line as they travel on a chair lift over vast areas of untracked mountain. You're never far away from marked areas and the lifts, so no hiking is involved with this side of the mountain. There are so many ways down that there aren't really any no-go areas; just be careful and pay attention to the avalanche warnings. Alternatively, the other side of the valley which makes up the resort, has plenty of long, steep pistes, gullies and chutes - take a piste map with you.
Freestylers would do well to check out the 300 metre pipe and park area on Lech's slopes. However, Zurs has a lot of good natural terrain for grabbing big air. There are loads of cliff drops of various sizes, and plenty of banked walls to pull off tricks.
Carvers will find lots of challenging terrain. The marked-out slopes are groomed to perfection, and perfect corduroy tracks are left just waiting to be sliced up at Mach 6.
Beginners-although Zurs is primarily an intermediate/advanced freeriding area, some of the lower slopes offer perfect conditions for learning. The lifts are slow, but redeemed by the generally patient and friendly lift attendants (yes, they do exist!).
