Zell am See / pic: Zell am See tourism
Zell am See is located close to a large lake and not far from the glacier resort of Kaprun. Zell offers over 130km of marked out piste, much of which is treelined. A third of the runs are covered by snowmaking facilities, which is a good thing, as this resort doesn't have the greatest annual snow record.
This resort has long been popular with snowboarders in Austria and has always been welcoming. It is a picturesque mountain with views over the lake and from the top you can see over thirty 3000 metre high mountains and it is considered one of the nicest views in
The management do frown when it comes to riding in the trees, as you are not allowed to snowboard through the wooded sections. In general this is a pretty good snowboarders resort with the added advantage of a glacier at Kaprun just down the road should the snow here turn out to be crap or you simply fancy a change. Zell's main disadvantage is its own popularity as it's high on tour operators lists and therefore very crowded.
Whatever level of a rider you are or whatever style of riding you do, this place will give you the opportunity to practice your skills, and most people will be able to make a 5 day trip well worthwhile.
