Seefeld

Seefeld is a tiny picture post card resort and every thing you imagined an Austrian village to be. This low key retreat is only 20 kilometres from Innsbruck and can be reached with ease along the A12 Autobahn via Zirl. Seefeld is noted more in the winter for being a cross country ski retreat and in the summer a popular holiday destination attracting visitors to sample the beauty and the tranquillity of the area.

The German resort of Garmisch is only a short distance away across the Austrian German boarder and both resorts can be ridden with the one ski pass called the ‘Happy Card’, which can be used in other resorts in various countries. On its own Seefeld is not noted for its hard-core down hill skiing or snowboarding, but nevertheless this is still a fun mountain with riding possible up to an altitude of 2100 metres and descends back down to the village outskirts.

The ride area is split across two separate areas that of the Gschwandtkopf and the Rosshutte. The smaller of the two, being the Gschwandtkopf, is rather limited with only a few easy slopes for novices to try out. However, its still easy to get around and is a good spot for beginners to spend a few days learning on. The Rosshutte is a little more extensive with longer trails and wider slopes, but nothing that adventurous.
