Neustift
is the small gate way village for a number of small ridabe mountain areas that link directly with the village as well as being the last out post for one of Austria's most popular, and in the eyes of some, best all the year round ridabe glaciers. ‘Stubai Gletscher’. During the winter months when many of the low lying resorts are struggling for snow, you can be sure to find a good snow cover up on Stubai. However, be warned, Stubai can become very busy when outlying resorts are struggling for snow cover, skiers from as far as Munich flock here in the bucket load. That aside Neustift its self is ideally suited to novices and slow learning intermediates and in general this area has a good annual snow record, so you won’t always need to take the 20 minute drive and 15 minute cable car ride up to Stubai’s slopes. Located close to Neustift are the runs on the Elferhutte, which rises to 2080m. Although not extensive, the runs on the Elferhutte are perfect for intermediates and easy going carvers with mainly red runs and the odd blue trail to master, but riders who rate them self’s as experts will need to travel up to the Stubai Glacier to find some adventurous terrain. If you decided to hangout around Neustift, access to the slopes is easily done from the village.
